Joey Loperfido makes all-time highlight reel catch to rob home run
On Friday evening, Houston Astros outfielder Joey Loperfido defied physics. In the bottom of the eighth inning of the Astros’ win over the Minnesota Twins, Loperfido robbed Twins’ shortstop Willi Castro‘s two-run shot at the right field fence.
While reaching over the fence and snagging the ball would have been impressive, Loperfido took the highlight play a step further. Loperfido hauled the ball in with his glove only for it to pop out when his hand hit the fence. Instead of giving up on the play, Loperfido caught the ball with his bare hand.

Wyatt Langford robs home run in fantastic fashion
Lopefido isn’t the only former collegiate standout making plays at the next level. Former Florida Gators star Wyatt Langford went into the wall to make an insane catch and rob the San Diego Padres of a home run on Thursday.
The Texas Rangers rookie crashed into the wall and managed to hang onto the ball in deep left field. But, he had to adjust to the ball behind him, reaching his left arm way up. The Rangers rookie was pretty adamant this summer that he’s enjoying his first of pro ball.
“Yeah, it’s been great,” Langford said. “I mean, it’s been a really good group of guys. They’ve helped a lot. Yeah, it’s just been great.”
