Legendary NHRA racer John Force has been moved from the trauma intensive care unit to the neuro intensive care unit. Force continues to heal from his fiery wreck that happened during his qualifying run at Virginia Nationals.

The 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion will remain in the hospital as he recovers. Doctors are mostly worried about his head injury, although no additional details on that injury have been revealed at this time.

John Force Racing put out a statement on the matter. Brittany Force, his daughter, will not race this weekend in Norwalk, Ohio as she will remain with her father during his recovery.

“Four days after his crash at more than 300 miles per hour, drag racing champion John Force has moved from the trauma intensive care unit to the neuro intensive care unit, where the medical team can focus on his head injury which is their primary concern

“The move was a welcome positive for his family members, who have maintained a daily presence at the hospital all week.”

The Force family is also grateful for the well wishes from fans and others. Those words were shared at the end of the statement.

“The Force family are grateful for the team of medical professionals who are caring for John, and for the overwhelming number of heartfelt messages of prayer, support, and concern. Thank you for continuing to respect the privacy of the family and John Force Racing team members.”

John Force has been in the hospital since Sunday. When medical personnel arrived on scene to get Force out of his car, he was responsive. Since then, there has been little revealed about his exact injuries.

John Force Racing continues operations

While John Force and Brittany Force will sit out this week’s NHRA race, the JFR team is still going. Austin Prock will compete at Norwalk, Ohio. Prock is seen as the next one up after Force decides to hang it up for good.

Prock is a talented drag racer. He has a bright future, and in the present is doing great things as well. Force fans will surely be behind him 100% this weekend.

“Austin Prock will compete this weekend with the sam courageous, fighting spirit that John has embodied and instilled in his teams over the years, and his AAA Chevrolet Camaro SS team will proudly carry the torch for the entire John Force Racing organization and sponsors this weekend.”

John Force remains in the hospital as he recovers. Let’s hope that there is more good news on the way soon. If the family feels good about this latest update, then that is good. At 75 years old, Force is an inspiration on and off the track.
