John Force to attend Ford Performance NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas
For the first time since his horrific wreck, John Force will be at an NHRA race in person. He will attend the races in Las Vegas this week. Force is an icon in motorsports and drag racing, and his return to the dragstrip means a lot for him and race fans.
The entire Force family revolves around NHRA. Family and friends have been by John Force’s side for months as he recovers from his injuries. His arrival at Ford Performance NHRA Nationals will certainly be a reason to celebrate.
Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports shared a quote from the legendary racer ahead of the weekend.
“I’m still a work in progress. I have good days and bad days.”
Even better, here’s a statement from John Force announcing the news himself.
“Boy am I glad to be here after that crash I had in Richmond. But at the end of the day, I’m gonna recover. I’m getting better already, I was in the hospital for four months. I’m still working every day to get my body back in shape but I gotta get my mind back in shape. I took a pretty big hit in that crash at Richmond. So, I’ve been in that hospital there in Richmond, I’ve been in Phoenix, Arizona going through rehab. And I’m out here now and I’m working on it every day.
“This is about what I love the most and it’s racing, it’s NHRA, I love my sponsors and I love all the fans. And I love your letters and all the things you’ve written and all your support. You’ve really been good to me in a hard time. I’ve had four, five months that I’ve been laying in hospitals, going through rehab, and I’m going to get better. I’m under doctor’s orders. They tell me where I can go. I think they’re going to tell me this week that I can go to the Las Vegas race.”

So, John Force is going to be in town. NHRA fans will get to see the legend live and in person once again. This time he won’t be in a Funny Car, but there is a ton of NHRA action to watch. Austin Prock is in Funny Car, and Brittany Force is doing her thing in Top Fuel.
It is amazing that John Force is healthy enough to make the trip. Thankfully the living legend is still around to grace us with his electric personality. And hey, it sounds like he wants to race again, because of course he does. That’s what he does best.
