John Gotti III goes after Floyd Mayweather after fight called, chaotic brawl ensues
Chaos broke out during Sunday night’s boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III in Sunrise, Florida. The fight was called, but that’s hardly where the madness ended.
After the official called the fight, Gotti continued to go after Mayweather in the ring. Several team members from both sides, as well as officials, jumped into the middle of the ring, resulting in an all-out brawl.
It was a chaotic scene from Sunday night’s fight.
The fight was called off and Gotti was disqualified for taunting Mayweather. But, clearly, Gotti wanted his shot at the legendary fighter. He wasn’t ready to call it a night because of the disqualification.
Sunday’s fight was an exhibition between Mayweather (50-0) and Gotti (2-0). It had been scheduled for eight two-minute rounds.
Mayweather stepped away from professional boxing in 2017 but continues to fight in exhibition matches. Because it wasn’t an official fight, there were no judges to score it and no official winner was announced.

Both Mayweather and Gotti were warned about the trash talk by the official prior to the start of the sixth round. When the chirping continued, the fight got called.
Things could’ve gotten even uglier
When wild scenes like this unfold, the crowd can become violent, as well. A member of Floyd Mayweather’s team put forth his best effort to prevent that from happening.
After things got chaotic, a member of Mayweather’s corner grabbed a microphone and urged fans in attendance to leave the venue peacefully, per BoxingScene.com. That seemed to have helped, at least in some regard.
It was also reported that, after both Mayweather and Gotti were escorted out of the ring, punches continued to be thrown by members of both teams inside the ring. It was truly an ugly end to Sunday’s exhibition fight.
