John Hunter Nemechek announces birth of second daughter Penelope James
This is a great week for NASCAR Xfinity Series wins leader John Hunter Nemechek as his second child was just born. John Hunter and his wife Tylor welcomed another daughter into their family, Penelope James. Little Aspen is now a big sister.
Many times you can see the Nemechek family together at the track. Aspen is a common fixture at the merch trailer whenever her dad has autograph duty. Now the family just got a little bit bigger with the addition of Penelope.
John Hunter Nemechek was one of several drivers in recent weeks to mention they were on baby-watch. So, expect more birth announcements to come from some of NASCAR’s stars.
Everyone looks happy and healthy in this photo that JHN shared online.
This season has been great for John Hunter Nemechek. He has finished in the top-10 in 17 of 23 races this year. He’s tied with Austin Hill for the series lead. While Hill leads the regular season points, JHN leads in playoff points as of right now.
Heading into Daytona it is going to be another battle between the 20 and the 21. Hill is the drafting master in the Xfinity Series, so we will see if he can pull out another win on the superspeedway.

John Hunter Nemechek running down Austin Hill
The NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs start later than the Cup Series postseason. That gives John Hunter Nemechek a few extra chances to catch Hill for the regular season title and the bonus points that come with it.
This season, Nemechek has five wins to Hill’s four. To his credit, the 20 has won in a more diverse set of tracks. However, Hill has shown he isn’t just a drafting driver. The RCR driver also has more top-5 finishes than anyone else in the series with 13 on the year.
As the Xfinity Series Playoffs get closer, it is exciting to see the race for the championship we’re about to see. Between Hill, Nemechek, Justin Allgaier, Cole Custer, and Sam Mayer – it is going to be a wild postseason.
John Hunter Nemechek will have a little extra to race for this weekend at Daytona with the arrival of Penelope James. Let’s see how long it takes him to win a race for the first time in his new baby’s life, I have a feeling it won’t take long.
