Johnny Manziel explains adjustment Shedeur Sanders will need in NFL
Johnny Manziel loves the way Shedeur Sanders plays the quarterback position, but noted where the Colorado star will have to adjust in the NFL.
The name of the game? Speed. Sanders has it in decision making and the ability to be mobile when needed. But it is a whole different ball game at the next level.
Take it from Manziel, who said it’s not unique to one player.
“I think everybody has to go through it,” Manziel said, via Action Network. “I think a lot of mobile guys will really learn how fast and how quick the game is when you get to the next level.
“A lot of the things that you do in college, with ease at times, definitely button up and get a lot harder to do whenever you get to the NFL.”
The speed is just too fast. The D linemen are just too good,” Manziel said. “I believe that Shedeur is still gonna get to that next level and be able to be elusive and be able to make plays.
“But, as everybody learns when he gets to the NFL, it’s a different beast.”
This season, Sanders has 3,222 yards, 27 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 72.9% completion percentage.

He’ll get his chance to wow scouts the rest of the year, as well as in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
The East-West Shrine Bowl is one of the final places where a draft prospect can show NFL teams the qualities they possess ahead of the NFL Draft. With Sanders being one of the marquee names available next April, it’s certainly a huge get for the event to have him participate at AT&T Stadium on Jan. 30.
Former college coach Dan Mullen watches a lot of quarterbacks in college football, but none stick out like the Colorado star.
“I think it’s pretty easy, it’s Shedeur Sanders,” Mullen said, regarding the best quarterback in college football, via The Pat McAfee Show. “You watch him play, the consistency week in and week out of what he’s able to do and lead that team. Now, you know, they’re a very talented team, and coach Prime’s done an amazing job of turning that around. They do have probably the first and second pick in the draft, so you would hope they’d win some out there when you have that good of players. But I think watching how he’s grown and matured.”
” … If I was a betting man, he’s the guy you want right now if you want to win a game in college football. And I’d be highly shocked if he’s not the first pick taken in the draft.”
