Jordan Love breaks down how life changes as a starting quarterback in the NFL
Since the move to send Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets became official, it’s been Jordan Love’s show in Green Bay. But the third-year quarterback hasn’t been behaving much differently.
Speaking with reporters at the end of OTAs and mandatory minicamp, Love broke down how he’s approached things now that he knows he’ll be the Week 1 starter. He hasn’t changed up the routine much, but has come to it with a pronounced focus.
“Yeah, it’s kind of the external things that I can’t control that might be a little more different, now, being the starter. But for me, I try to keep the main thing the main thing. Try and not do too much in my life where I’m pulled so many different ways and can’t relax and settle down and be able to focus on what I need to focus on. Like I said, I tell people all the time, I’m really just focused on this year,” Love said. “Not be doing too much outside, getting pulled in different directions, things like that. But yeah, obviously life changes a little bit when you go from being a backup to a starter. Different opportunities and things like that.”
If anything, Love is feeling an increased sense of urgency to be ready to go when training camp hits.
“I think the urgency, the urgency we need to get ready fro training camp. It’s coming up fast. Obviously this is our last practice so when we come back, we’ll be heading into the season. So I think that part changes a little bit knowing that you’re that guy. Knowing, obviously, that Aaron’s not coming back. But, for the most part, training, everything like that, it’s going to be the same for me,” Love said.

Love has high hopes for the Packers offense in 2023
As Love explained, the Packers are loaded with weapons offensively.
“I think we’ve got playmakers on offense,” Love said. “I think the weapons we have a receiver and both tight end and running back as well. You know, we’ve got guys who can make plays. They’re catching the ball really well right now, and I think once everybody just gets rolling, gets comfortable with the offense, and being where they need to be every play, the sky’s the limit for us.”
Head coach Matt LaFleur agrees that the offense is in good shape, pointing out just how many strides Love has made during this offseason.
“He was pretty good and his ball wasn’t always the tightest but he did a great job,” LaFleur said. “It’s about just being accurate. Throwing on time. Making the right decisions. Putting the ball in the right spot. And so, I’ve been encouraged — especially, I would say over the course of this last week, one of the things that we’ve kind of talked about in that room is just how important — it’s really the process of playing quarterback.”
