Jordan Love is picking up right where Aaron Rodgers left off with the Green Bay Packers.

The freshly-minted Packers starting quarterback was handed the keys to the car in an official capacity on Sunday, leading the charge in Week 1 for Green Bay, while Rodgers prepares for his debut with the New York Jets. On the docket was the Chicago Bears, who many believe are ready to take the next step and get back to competing in the NFC North.

Unfortunately for The Windy City, Love seems to be following in Rodgers’ footsteps, copying his dominance over Chicago. Green Bay took care of business in grand fashion, defeating the Bears by a score of 38-20.

Afterwards, Love touched on his feelings from the victory, elaborating on how it all came together for Green Bay on Sunday.

“Yesterday was visualizing having a win, coming off the field after a win,” Love said. “… We knew what type of game we were in for. Obviously, my first game in this rivalry, so I mean it felt good. They’re a good team.

“Obviously, first half was close and second half, the way we just bounced back and came out there in the second half and just total domination. It felt good. It just feels good to get a win, never take that for granted.”

Alas, Love was fantastic on Sunday, completing 15-of-27 passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns. While his opposing quarterback for the Bears got a ton of attention all offseason in Justin Fields, it was Love who came out on top.

Packers leader Matt LaFleur couldn’t have been more proud of the quarterback he played a pivotal role in drafting following the afternoon, and relayed the immense belief Green Bay has in Love.

“There’s a big-time belief in that locker room for Jordan Love,” LaFleur said. “I think the guys are going to rally around him. They’re excited for him. They love him, they respect him.”

Moving forward, the Packers are hoping for more performances out of Love like Sunday, but it was all three phases of the game where they dominated. It was simply a fantastic performance.

“Obviously, that was the plan for us, coming in here and starting off the season in the right way,” the Packers quarterback added. “I thought we did that in all phases.”

Time will tell if Jordan Love can keep up the tremendous play. He’ll have another shot to capture victory in Week 2, as Green Bay travels to take on the Atlanta Falcons.
