Jordan Love‘s Father’s Day message to Bears fans may not have been a self-own, after all. The Green Bay Packers quarterback clarified his video from Sunday, which went viral on social media.

Love sent out a message to Bears fans on Sunday, saying “Happy Father’s Day to all the Bears fans out there. Go Pack Go.”

Many thought it was Love’s attempt to say the Packers still owned the Bears, but mixed up the message. Turns out, the young quarterback was actually asked to do a favor for a group of Bears fans.

“Was asked to do a special favor for this fan, didn’t think much of it lol,” Love wrote. “But I see y’all really took it and ran with it. Regardless I hope everyone had a great Fathers Day.”

Love also shared the tweet from the fan, who claims he asked Love to send the message to “French Bears” fans. In the initial video Love posted, he didn’t provide any context to his message.

But Love’s tweet does explain his wording in his initial video. When it first popped up, it seemed as though he owned himself. Clearly, that wasn’t the case.

Love was just being a courteous and helpful guy. Even though he’s a Packers quarterback, he probably made at least a few friends with Bears fans after the explanation.

Jordan Love says offseason won’t be any different as starter

On the football side of things, Love will have big shoes to fill in Green Bay entering 2023. He’s the starting quarterback now, filling in for Aaron Rodgers, who left for the New York Jets.

With only 10 games and one start under his belt, you might think a change in offseason preparations would be coming for the third-year NFL player. Instead, he says not much will change.

“I don’t think it looks different at all,” Love said, when asked about his offseason outlook. “Same thing. Training, just getting back to it, getting in the book. Pretty much, like I said, continuing the progression I’ve made so far and keep it going.”

Love lost his lone start to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021. Over his early career in the NFL, he’s completed 50-of-83 passes for 606 yards with as many touchdowns as interceptions (3). There’s a lot of room for improvement.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean he needs to change everything about his offseason routine. And it doesn’t sound like he has any plans of making any major moves on that front before the 2023 season starts.
