Jordan Love seemed destined to miss a large chunk of time with his knee injury suffered while the Packers played the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil, but the star quarterback could return to the field as early as Week 3, according to Matt LaFleur.

The Green Bay head coach revealed Love is questionable for Sunday’s clash with the Tennessee Titans after missing last weekend’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. If Love can’t go, backup Malik Willis, who won Week 2’s contest, albeit he didn’t throw too much, would be in-line to start.

Love was originally projected to miss three to four weeks due to his injury. Throughout the week, he’s been tabbed as day-to-day, with an opportunity to return in Green Bay’s matchup in Week 2, designated as questionable, which is a miraculous turn of events when you think about it.

Moreover, Love was diagnosed with an MCL sprain following Green Bay’s 34-29 loss to the Eagles, but he returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time since Week 1 with a sleeve on his left leg when taking part in early drills.

Notably, Love signed a four-year, $220 million extension with Green Bay this offseason that makes him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league. He turned things around after a slow start in his first year as a starter last season, where he led Green Bay to a playoff birth and dominant win over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card.

Additionally, Green Bay will likely not want to trot their franchise quarterback onto the field early in the season if he’s not fully healthy and if there’s any risk of further injury.

If Willis does indeed start on Sunday, he’ll be looking to improve on his Week 2 stats, where went 12-for-14 with 122 yards and one touchdown along with 41 yards on the ground against Indy in a game where the Packers leaned on the run game. A second straight start for Willis could also represent a potential revenge game, after the Titans selected him in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft before trading him to the Packers in August.
