Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been downgraded to doubtful ahead of Week 2 against the Colts, The Athletic‘s Matt Schneidman reported Saturday.

Love was previously listed as questionable after suffering a sprained MCL in last week’s season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He finished that contest 17-of-34 passing for 260 yards and two touchdowns to one interception.

The injury occurred during the final drive of Sunday’s contest as Love was attempting to lead the Packers to a comeback against the Eagles. He limped off the field with only six seconds remaining.

The Eagles ended up winning the game, 34-29. After he went down, backup quarterback Malik Willis came in for the Packers, and couldn’t get anything going before being sacked, and the game was over.

Jordan Love is coming off of his first season as the Packers starting quarterback after Aaron Rodgers was traded to the Jets ahead of 2023. He finished with 4,159 yards passing and 32 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions as Green Bay finished 9-8 and advanced to the division round of the playoffs.

Willis was traded to the Packers from the Tennessee Titans this offseason in exchange for a seventh round pick. He was a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and has made three starts in his career.

He seems likely to add a fourth when the Packers face the Colts at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Timeline to return revealed for Jordan Love

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Love is expected to miss between three and six weeks. He adds there is “early optimism” with the timeline being on the shorter end. A huge sigh of relief for the Packers as Love should be back at some point in 2024.

#Packers QB Jordan Love’s initial timetable for return is in the 3-6 week range, per sources,” Pelissero said via X. “And there’s some early optimism he could return sooner than later, pending a second opinion. Next three opponents: #Colts at home, at #Titans#Vikings at home.”

Love was having a decent day against the Philadelphia Eagles before going down with the injury. While the 50% completion percentage is not great, Love threw for two touchdowns. An interception was thrown too as the Packers eventually fell.
