Jordan Love injury update: Packers QB reveals chances of playing in Week 9 vs. Lions
Green Bay Packers (6-2) quarterback Jordan Love said Wednesday there is a “realistic” possibility he plays in Sunday’s Week 9 home tilt against the Detroit Lions (6-1).
“I think it’s realistic,” said Love, when asked if there was a realistic shot at him playing against Detroit, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
Love, who suffered a strained groin in Sunday’s 30-27 Week 8 road victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-6), rode an exercise bike during team stretches and did not go outside with those practicing Wednesday. He was one of many Packers in the rehab area, including running back Josh Jacobs, cornerback Jaire Alexander, safety Evan Williams, left guard Elgton Jenkins, left tackle Rasheed Walker and center Josh Myers.
Love sustained the injury in the third quarter after taking a hit to the back. He previously went into the blue medical tent after suffering an injury in the first quarter. Love did not miss a snap and was back on the field for the Packers’ next offensive possession.

Love said his groin is “feeling better.”
“Definitely feeling better,” Love said. “I think every day there will be some improvements to it, but definitely feels better than it did on Sunday.”

Malik Willis replaced Love under center, completing 4-of-5 passes for 56 yards and a score. He added four carries for 23 yards. Willis filled in for Love earlier this season when the 25-year-old was out with a sprained MCL. He led Green Bay to wins over the Indianapolis Colts (4-4) and Tennessee Titans (1-6).
Love called it less than ideal to not practice in preparation for a big-time matchup with their NFC North rivals.
“Obviously, not practicing during the week is not the ideal format for trying to play a game, but like I said, things happen,” Love said. “So, if that’s the scenario, I know I’ll be fine, but definitely it’s not the ideal scenario for going into a big week.”
