Jordan Love praises what Josh Jacobs can bring to offense
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is ready to do big things with running back Josh Jacobs in 2024. While speaking to reporters in June, Love was asked about his thoughts on what Jacobs brings to the offense.
“I think everyone’s watched what Josh Jacobs has been about when he’s been on the Raiders. There’s definitely no question what kind of player he is and when he will go out there on the field,” Love said. “It was awesome to see him out there and making those cuts and breaking away out there. He’s a phenomenal player. Obviously, he’s got the speed and he’s got the cuts and the agility. I’m excited to see him once the season gets rolling and see how hard it is for guys to tackle him.”
Jacobs a former Alabama Crimson Tide running back, comes to Green Bay after spending his first five NFL seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders. In his career, Jacobs led the NFL in rushing (2022), was named to the Pro Bowl twice and was selected as First Team All-Pro member once. In 2023, Jacobs missed the last four games of the season due to a quad injury and rushed for 805 yards and six touchdowns in 13 games. He signed a four-year, $48 million contract with the Packers in March.
Jordan Love determined to get Josh Jacobs a receiving TD
Jacobs will likely have a big 2024 seaosn with the Packers, but the 26-year old is looking to avoid an NFL record. In his career, Jacobs has 197 receptions but has yet to score a receiving touchdown. The only running backin NFL history with at least 200 receptions and zero toucdown receptions is Gerald Riggs who finished his career with 201 receptions and not one TD catch. Love recently told Bleacher Report (per Packers Wire) he will throw a TD pass to love this upcoming season.
“No, that’s not going to happen,” Love said. “I saw that the other day. I’m surprised he doesn’t have any touchdowns yet. Let’s see, 197 career receptions, zero receiving touchdowns. I sent that to him, I said, ‘Bro, we’re going to get you a touchdown, for sure.’ First pass to him might be a touchdown, who knows. Five receptions away from it? We’ll make sure he gets a touchdown in there.”
The Packers rookies reported to training camp on Wednesday, and the veterans will report on Sunday. Their regular season will kick off on Friday, Sept. 9 when they face the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.
