Jordan Love predicts breakout season for Romeo Doubs this year
The Green Bay Packers have several viable options at the receiver position, but quarterback Jordan Love believes Romeo Doubs will be the one to have a breakout season in 2024.
“Romeo’s definitely one of the best,” Love said this week at training camp. “… He’s definitely one of those guys I think this year he’s gonna have a breakout year, really make a huge name for himself.”
Doubs, the 2022 fourth round pick out of Nevada, had a solid rookie campaign and followed it up with an even better showing in 2023. In 17 games, he received 96 targets, hauling in 59 receptions for 674 yards and tied for the team lead with eight touchdowns.
Green Bay’s receiver room is crowded, with Jayden Reed, Christian Watson and Dontayvion Wicks all in the fold, but Doubs has been the camp standout to this point. Doubs notably reeled in back-to-back red zone scores during Saturday’s night practice at Lambeau Field.
Romeo Doubs working on getting better in 2024
Doubs is off to a good start in 2024, and Love is happy with what he sees.
“Romeo’s playing great,” Love said. “He’s playing very fast. It’s just the way he attacks the field, his mindset. He runs every route like he’s the number one receiver whether he’s the first read, the last read, you can just tell in his mindset that he wants the ball and he runs routes like that. He’s playing very fast right now, getting in and out of his breaks.

“Obviously, his hands, we all know how great his hands are. I love the way Romeo’s playing, and I told him the other day I gotta keep doing a good job of trying to get him the ball because he’s playing very well right now and I’m loving what I’m seeing.”
Even though he has had some success in the NFL, Doubs isn’t resting on his laurels. He wants to be even better for Green Bay.
“I’m still looking for growth and I’m still working on some things,” Doubs said. “I’m not going to sit here and act like things are completed but, as a player, I look forward to progress every day and it’s great when it shows up.”
