Jordan Love shares advice Aaron Rodgers gave him ahead of camp

Aaron Rodgers reached out to Jordan Love Tuesday night, with the former Packers quarterback giving some words of encouragement to his replacement.
Rodgers jump to the Jets is one of the most well-publicized stories in the NFL. But Love also is a huge part of the story. The Packers first round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft finally will take over Green Bay’s offense.
Love talked about the conversation, Wednesday, as he met with reporters gathered for Packers training camp.
Love said Rodgers told him “be yourself, have fun, enjoy it.’ Obviously it’s my time now (and) he said ‘be yourself. That’s all you can do.’ That’s kind of been the message from everybody, just be yourself don’t try to be anybody else. Don’t try to be Aaron, anybody else.”
Jordan Love started training camp today while Aaron Rodgers and Jets began practicing last week
It’s a big day for Jordan Love and the Packers as they begin the post Aaron Rodgers era. Meanwhile, Rodgers and the Jets started training camp last week. The Jets and the Browns open the exhibition season, Aug. 3, in the Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio.

Meanwhile, coach Matt LeFleur knows it’s a different camp with Jordan Love than Aaron Rodgers. He’s got to make sure that Love gets a ton of reps. Rodgers, who’ll turn 40 in early December, didn’t need that kind of work in preseason camp. Love, after three years, still is very raw. He’s appeared in 10 career games. And he’s completed 50 passes for 606 yards and three touchdowns.
“There’s a lot of things I’d like to see out of him,” LaFleur said of Love during a pre-training camp press conference. “It’s more or less just the process of becoming better each and every day and the command that he has. Certainly, you want to give him every opportunity.
“You can’t give him enough reps. Just making those incremental improvements and becoming more consistent on a daily basis. I’m really excited. He definitely has complete command of our offense. There’s no doubt about it. He’s put the work in, he knows the ins and outs. Now it’s going to apply that in a real situation.”
The Packers kick off their three-game exhibition schedule, Aug. 11, against the Bengals. The Packers will catch an early plane to Cincinnati and conduct a joint workout with the Bengals on Aug. 9. The Packers will do something similar the next week. They’ll have joint practices with the Patriots on Aug. 16-17, followed by a preseason game. They’ll finish with a game against the Seahawks.
