Jordan Love bears the responsibility of taking the Packers into the team’s next era without Aaron Rodgers. However, he wants everyone to know that he’s not the only quarterback in Green Bay.

Love commented on going through the offseason program with fellow QBs Sean Clifford and Danny Etling this week. He said that they’ve all slowly built a relationship with one another that’s founded upon competitiveness while they’re also all looking out for one another in their room.

“I think we have a great quarterback room. We’re all pretty close,” Love said. “Obviously bringing Sean in? We’ve all got close pretty quickly.”

“They’ve done a great job as well. We compete every day as a quarterback room. Doing individual drills, things like that,” said Love. “Then, obviously, we’re in the meeting and being able to watch everything and talk through it? Just hearing different things? It makes us all better.”

Between the three of them, Love is the only one who has true NFL experience. That being said, even his snaps were limited as the backup behind Rodgers in Green Bay over the past three seasons.

Etling has spent the last several years bouncing around the league since being drafted 219th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He has spent time with the New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, and Denver Broncos. That eventually led him to Green Bay when he first joined the team as a member of their practice squad in December 2021.

As for Clifford, he just wrapped up a five-year career at Penn State where he left as the school’s all-time leader in several passing categories including yards (10,661) and touchdowns (86). After gaining all that experience in University Park, the Packers drafted him with the 149th pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Inexperienced as they may be, they’ll all need to work together to help one another grow. That starts with Love as the perceived leader of the franchise heading into next season.

Love evaluates his leadership as Packer’s starter

There’s a lot that comes with picking up a mantle that Aaron Rodgers held as well as Brett Favre before him. That’s the position that Packers QB Jordan Love is currently having to handle in Green Bay ahead of next season.

However, from a leadership standpoint, Love isn’t trying to overdo anything with his teammates. During a media availability this week, he says that he is taking his time in learning that role as he grasps how to best be a leader and a voice for his teammates.

“I mean it’s gone good. I don’t try to do too much about it. It’s going to take time to grow into that role,” Love said. “But I’m just trying to keep taking it day by day. And, like I said, being a voice (where) guys can come to me, ask questions.”

From there, Love pointed out how his own inexperience overall is playing a part in that process. While he’s doing his best to earn respect himself, he says that, at 24 years old and heading into his fourth NFL season, he’s also still picking things up as he goes, especially from Green Bay’s veteran leadership.

“I’m still young as well. I ask all the vets questions all the time,” said Love. “But I don’t try to do too much, really, with that role.”
