Josh Allen delivers passionate comments about Stefon Diggs situation
The absence of Stefon Diggs from the start of Buffalo Bills mandatory minicamp Tuesday was the big story — and for good reason.
The star wideout’s no-show was unexpected, and led to head coach Sean McDermott going as far to say he was “very concerned.” Diggs’ agent, Adisa Bakari, told Adam Schefter of ESPN that Diggs was in Buffalo for minicamp and met with McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane the past two days. Buffalo later confirmed that Diggs reported in the morning before leaving the facility ahead of practice.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen shed some light on the situation while speaking with the media, saying “we’re working on some things” that are “non-football related.”
“Internally, we’re working on some things,” Allen said, via Pro Football Talk. “Not football-related. Stef, he’s my guy. I f—— love him. He’s a brother of mine. This does not work, what we’re doing here, without him.”
Allen added he didn’t know if Diggs’ issues stemmed from the AFC Divisional Round loss this past season to the Cincinnati Bengals in which Diggs exited Highmark Stadium before some of the team’s coaches had even arrived to the locker room.

“There’s things I could do better to help out with this process and try to get him back here and be the Buffalo Bill that he’s meant to be… There are some things that could have gone better last year and didn’t,” Allen said. “I think, as an organization, maybe not communicating the right way with everything. Just trying to talk and listen at the same time, hear him out and just try to move this forward as quickly and respectfully as possible.”
Money doesn’t appear to be at play in Stefon Diggs saga
Money would appear to not be a factor, as Diggs signed a four-year, $96 million extension ahead of last season. Diggs, 29, is coming off a season in which he hauled in 108 receptions for 1,429 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns. He earned his third Pro Bowl nomination in as many years with the Bills.
In March, Diggs gave a blunt assessment of the Bills’ struggles in the postseason.
“It doesn’t make sense,” Diggs said, via Sal Capaccio of WGR 550. “I’ll rack my brain with this shit at this point… I think it’s more execution than anything. Shit is small little pieces on why it’s not going right… We’ve got the players. We’ve got the plays. Why shit ain’t coming together? That’s where you draw some of those questions. I never want to question who I am, I never want to question how I am. I’m giving this shit everything I’ve got. I’m dying on the hill for that.”
