Buffalo Bills (3-2) quarterback Josh Allen briefly exited Sunday’s 23-20 Week 5 road defeat to the Houston Texans (4-1) after getting his head slammed into the turf in the fourth quarter.

Allen, flushed out of the pocket on third down, was hit as he threw by Texans defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr. Allen was evaluated for a head injury in the blue medical tent, making way for Mitchell Trubisky. He came back into the game after just one play.

Allen, one of the MVP frontrunners entering Sunday’s game, completed just 9-of-30 passes for 131 yards and a score. The Bills were working without wideout Khalil Shakir, sidelined with an ankle injury.

Buffalo came into the game averaging 30.5 points per game, second in the NFL. But they were out of sync against Houston’s defense, Allen posting one of his most underwhelming stat lines in recent memory. His 30% completion percentage is the lowest in a game with at least 30 pass attempts in the last 30 seasons, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.
