Josh Allen named 2024 NFL MVP
The NFL announced Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen won the 2024 MVP award. The announcement was made during the 14th annual NFL Honors ceremony on Thursday, and the event aired on FOX and the NFL Network.
Josh Allen was a big reason the Bills reached the AFC Championship for the second time in five seasons. He finished the 2024 regular season with 41 offensive touchdowns, a 101.4 passer rating and only six interceptions. Allen was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week four different times and became the first player in NFL history to record at least 25 touchdowns, 10 rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown in a season.
Associated Press writers from across the country voted for the MVP winner. The MVP finalists were Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, Allen, Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley, Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow and Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff.
Lamar Jackson is no stranger to the MVP award, winning it last year and in 2019. During the 2024 season, Jackson set career highs for passing yards (4,172), touchdown passes (41), quarterback rating (119.6) and completions (316). He led the league in rushing yards by a quarterback (915) and became the first player in NFL history with at least 4,000 passing yards and 800 rushing yards. Last month, the Pro Football Writers of America named Jackson the 2024 MVP.
