Josh Berry, Joey Logano forced to pit backwards after crashing on pit road

Disaster for Joey Logano, Josh Berry, and Team Penske. During pit stops to start Stage 2 at Hoemstead-Miami, the two collided. Earlier in the race during green flag stops, Logano got into another teammate, Austin Cindric.
Now, Wood Brothers Racing and Josh Berry are their own team. However, they are in that Team Penske group, for sure. This is the last thing this group wanted to see on the track today, especially after Berry’s great win last week.
Joey Logano is not going to be too happy. These teams will have to try and bounce back from this setback.
Joey Logano had pretty significant damage as a result. He went on to make another pit stop to repair his car. Josh Berry had been racing up near the front all afternoon leading up to the incident.
While these two are having trouble, Ryan Blaney and Austin Cindric are doing well. Blaney has led the most laps and Cindric is racing in the top-10. This entire Penske group has been really good early this season.
This Homestead race has not played out how many believed it would. Racing is much more spread out, passing is a little more difficult. Could it be the March date instead of late October/early November? This track has aged a lot over the years. Maybe it is changing in general.

Joey Logano didn’t need a mistake
Through the first five races of the season, Joey Logano has no finishes in the top-10. He has a season-best of P12 from Atlanta. He has led plenty of laps but has not been able to get the deal done.
The last time that Logano went without a top-10 in the first five races of a season was back in 2011. His third year in the Cup Series. It took him eight races to get a top-10 finish. In his rookie season in 2009, Logano took nine races to make the top-10.
Joey Logano did not need this. At all. Team Penske had fast cars. Each driver was quick. Now Logano is struggling to get back to a decent finishing position. While Ryan Blaney continues to lead laps and show that he is the car to beat, Logano struggles.
Now, it isn’t time to panic yet. But coming off the championship and all of the criticism that Logano received this is not the start to 2025 that this group needed. They needed to come out hot and prove to everyone that it wasn’t a fluke.
