Well, this isn’t good for Josh Berry and the Wood Brothers. The No. 21 car lost power at Martinsville after getting hit on pit road. Bubba Wallace came out of his pit and doored Berry as the NASCAR field shuffled out on pit road.

Josh Berry is having a good season. Today at Martinsville was another opportunity to earn a really good finish. He could still rally with a lot of racing, more than 300 laps, to go.

However, it won’t be easy. His steering wheel is crooked. His car lost power and needed a battery change. Will the 21 car bounce back from this today? To Wallace’s credit, the battery issue doesn’t appear to be related to the contact on pit road.

Martinsville is this kind of track. You beat and bang even when you don’t mean to. Both Berry and Wallace have been fast today. Now, Berry has to figure things out and get back on the lead lap before he thinks about getting to the front again.

So far, we have not seen the same aggression and nonsense that we saw in the Truck and Xfinity Series races. Then again, those races didn’t get messy until the final stage. We have so much racing to go today and there will be a lot more twists and turns. No one is safe.

Josh Berry off to great start in year two

With that win at Las Vegas, Josh Berry completely rewrote the book on what he and this team can accomplish. He did it with pure speed at the end of the race. It was a fantastic race and has this team in the postseason already.

Today was another opportunity to potentially win. It still could be, but the team will have to get creative and Berry has to avoid any more mistakes. Again, get back on the lead lap and then we can start to talk about moving up through the field.

Team Penske is having battery issues today, though. It isn’t just Berry. So, I guess Bubba Wallace is off the hook for that at least. Austin Cindric had to get work done on his car for a battery issue soon after Berry. Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney have to be sweating.

A tough turn of events for Josh Berry. But he definitely isn’t out of this yet. Keep an eye on the 21 team, they may surprise us once again.
