Have a day! Josh Berry, the former NASCAR Weekly Series champion, has the first win of his young Cup Series win. Berry was in position to take over this race late at Las Vegas and he made the most of it.

Coming out of the final pit stop of the day, Josh Berry was P2. He fought Daniel Suárez for multiple laps before taking the lead. Once he got out front, that No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing car took off.

Hendersonville, Tennessee is the place to be tonight! Berry and the Wood Brothers are in Victory Lane together after only five races. This is going to be a fun partnership.

This is huge. First career win for Josh Berry in the Cup Series in only his second full-time season. He didn’t win Rookie of the Year in 2024 but he has shown that he more than belongs in the Cup Series.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. took a huge chance on Berry all those years ago. That turned into a full-time Xfinity Series deal. He has raced for Hendrick Motorsports as a replacement driver, Stewart-Haas as a Cup rookie in its final year in business, and now Wood Brothers Racing.

The Wood Bros didn’t have to wait seven years for another win like they did last time. Harrison Burton won last year at Daytona to make the playoffs. Now Josh Berry has put them back in victory lane in only a handful of races.

Daniel Suárez wanted that win badly. He needed that win. The 21-car was the best on the track in that last green flag run, period.

Josh Berry settling into the NASCAR season

The first three races of the season were not great for Josh Berry. He was a DNF at both Daytona and Atlanta. He finished P26 at COTA. Those tracks were wild cards and not really his strength.

Then you put him on these two traditional ovals. Phoenix and Las Vegas. He pulled off a P4 finish last week to put everyone on notice. He is a short-track ace. Expect Berry to flex his muscles at those tracks. But today was something different.

Did Berry dominate? No. But he ran in the front most of the race. His tire strategy was perfect. When the final green flag run was coming up, he was right where he wanted to be. Because of that, the 21 team walks away with the win at Las Vegas.

Josh Berry is settling into the season. Let’s see how this team does the next few weeks. If today is any sign, they could be ready to go on a solid run. Homestead will be much like today. Martinsville is a track Berry will be very comfortable racing.

Christopher Bell came up short of winning four races in a row. He still finished P13 against the odds as he had multiple setbacks during the race. With three drivers now locked in the playoffs with at least one win, how does the rest of the season shake out?
