Josh Berry shades former Stewart-Haas teammates during Atlanta Cup Series race

If there was any doubt left that Stewart-Haas Racing was dysfunctional last year, Josh Berry has ended that today. During the Cup Series race at Atlanta, Berry and his Wood Brothers Racing NASCAR team mentioned his former teammates a couple of times today.
Last season, Chase Briscoe, Noah Gragson, Ryan Preece, and Josh Berry raced for Stewart-Haas. There were many moments that made it clear things were exactly going smoothly.
It was revealed that Preece was left out of a study group last year the other three drivers had formed. So, when Berry was being pushed in a four-car line with his Team Penske teammates behind him, he had a realization.
“Lap 30ish, [Josh] says man, sure is nice to have teammates that work with you for once,” the Wood Brothers Racing X/Twitter account posted. “Lap 170ish, after racing with one of his old ‘teammates’ (and it nearly ending badly) I kinda see what he meant lol.
“So far a pretty good race, long way to go though.”
Unfortunately, Josh Berry was involved in the last-lap wreck that ended the race. So, he has a DNF in the official record book. He was able to win Stage 1 and led 56 laps, second most all night.
Josh Berry was very impressive tonight despite his P25 result. The Fords were really fast throughout the field, but Team Penske paced everyone. Joey Logano led 83 laps, the most on the night. Austin Cindric led 47 laps. Ryan Blaney finished P4 after spinning late in the race.

Josh Berry has teammates he can rely on now
While Josh Berry races for a one-car team, he has three teammates on the track. Wood Brothers is more or less a satellite team for Team Penske and that strong alliance means that he can count on champions like Blaney and Logano and a very strong superspeedway racer in Cindric.
Stewart-Haas Racing has a lot of problems in 2024. With the sale of the organization, it makes sense that things would start to fall apart. But I don’t think anyone will truly know how chaotic and dysfunctional things were unless they were part of it.
Wood Brothers has a strong driver in Berry. He’s older than many second-year drivers in the Cup Series in modern times. While Harrison Burton won a race last year, it feels like Berry can deliver consistent results in the 21 car.
While it is only race two of the season, Josh Berry has reason to be excited. He has a lot of support now and that could mean big things for the Tennessee racer this year.
