Josh Dobbs leads game-winning drive vs. Falcons days after signing with Vikings
It didn’t take long for Josh Dobbs to become a hero in Minnesota. Just a few days after signing with the Vikings, the quarterback led the team to a 31-28 victory over the Falcons in Atlanta.
Dobbs connected with Brandon Powell from six yards out with less than 30 seconds to play in Sunday’s game. That score gave Minnesota a 31-28 advantage over Atlanta with just 20 seconds remaining on the clock.
The score held and the Vikings improved to 5-4 on the year. The Falcons dropped to 4-5.
Jaren Hall actually started the game, but left the contest in the first quarter. The offense fell on Dobbs’ shoulders, and he delivered. The former Tennessee star completed 20-of-30 passes for 158 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Dobbs also led the team on the ground, piling up 66 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.
Dobbs started this season with the Arizona Cardinals but was traded to Minnesota near the deadline. With Kirk Cousins suffering a torn Achilles, the Vikings were in need of more depth under center. Getting the veteran played out pretty well for the Vikings this weekend.
Josh Dobbs ‘introduces’ himself to Vikings fans
Minnesota fans learned who Josh Dobbs was pretty quickly Sunday. The quarterback helped push the team back above the .500 mark with Sunday’s road win in Atlanta. After the game, he shared a video to “introduce” himself to the fanbase.

“What’s up Skol Nation,” Dobbs said. “Wanted to introduce myself. I’m Josh Dobbs. Great dub today on Sunday here in Atlanta. … I’ll see you guys back in Minnesota. Let’s get it.”
Dobbs has bounced around the league since he was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent time with the Steelers (2017-19, 2020-21), Jacksonville Jaguars (2019), Cleveland Browns (2022), Tennessee Titans (2022) and Cardinals (2023).
In his NFL career, Dobbs owns a 1-9 record as a starter, including a 1-7 mark this year. He accounted for 1,539 passing yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions with Arizona. He also totaled 258 rushing yards and found the end zone three times on the ground.
Minnesota returns home next weekend for a Sunday showdown against the New Orleans Saints. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET with the game airing on FOX.
