Josh Dobbs puts up incredible numbers through first half of home Vikings debut
The legend of Josh Dobbs is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, it may just be beginning — that is, in a different city.
Dobbs, making his first home start for the Minnesota Vikings (5-4) in Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints (5-4) Sunday, had a marvelous first half at U.S. Bank Stadium. Dobbs completed 18-of-22 passes for 200 yards and two total touchdowns. He added 40 yards on the ground to go along with a passer rating of 123.5. The Vikings went into the half holding a commanding 24-3 lead over the Saints.
Dobbs, acquired along with a conditional 2024 seventh-round pick from the Arizona Cardinals (1-8) in return for a 2024 sixth-round pick at the trade deadline, has now completed five quarters of football in a Minnesota uniform. The 28-year-old journeyman has been magnificent, racking up 484 yards and five total touchdowns.
Josh Dobbs leaning on Kirk Cousins
And to think, Dobbs not only hasn’t been in the building for two weeks, but needed directions on where to find the Vikings’ locker room after arriving at the stadium Sunday. Despite the newness, Dobbs already looks like a leader for Minnesota, and perhaps the man that can save their season following the season-ending Achilles injury to quarterback Kirk Cousins.

“I have [talked with Kirk],” Dobbs said this week. “He’s been in the complex starting his rehab. We actually share the same agent. So I was able to get connected with him pretty quickly once I got up here, and it’s been great to have him as a resource. He’s been awesome. The first thing he said was, ‘If you need anything, want to know more about the offense, whatever you need – don’t hesitate to call, text.’
“And he’s been in our meetings. So just being able to bounce ideas off him, ask him how he sees different plays that we’re installing. It’s been awesome. I’ll continue to use him as a resource.”
