Josh Jacobs hit with $21,855 fine from NFL for 'unnecessary roughness' on run
For the second week in a row, the NFL fined Raiders running back Josh Jacobs for unnecessary roughness. A week ago, the league decided that Jacobs lowered his head to gain more yardage.
And on Saturday, it was the same NFL song, with the same fine, but from a different game. Again. Jacobs lowered his head. As Tom Pelissero of NFL Network noted, the league is making this a fine emphasis. Check out the video and decide if the league is correct or out of line with the fine.
Jacobs hasn’t commented, as yet, on the newest NFL fine. But he did share his thoughts about last week’s decision. It’s about what you’d expect. “NFL, y’all gotta chill with the bs,” Jacobs shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Derwin James received the biggest fine from the NFL. The league decided his hit on Lions receiver Josh Reynolds was worthy of a $43,710 for unnecessary roughness. It wasn’t a surprise. Game officials flagged him for 15 yards because James hit Reynolds in the head.
And the NFL also fined Bengals special teamer Stanley Morgan, who was fresh off the practice squad, for a hit he made on the punt coverage team. But his fine was $1 less than the one James received.
