The Wednesday injury report for the Green Bay Packers ahead of a matchup with the Indianapolis Colts has been released, and quarterback Jordan Love continues to be a non-participant in practice.

Love is battling a sprained MCL, one that he sustained in the team’s season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Packers have made plans to start Malik Willis in the event that Love can’t return to the field in time for Sunday’s contest. More on that below.

The good news for Green Bay is that talented first-year edge rusher Edgerrin Cooper (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice. He could be a big difference-maker off the edge as a second-round NFL Draft pick.

Prior to arriving in Green Bay, Cooper starred at Texas A&M, where he racked up 205 tackles, 30.5 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and 10 passes defended.

A handful of others were listed as limited participants on Wednesday, while Jordan Love watched from the sidelines.

Among them were cornerback Corey Ballentine (oblique), defensive lineman Kenny Clark (toe), running back Josh Jacobs (back) and running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring).

Green Bay prepared to start Malik Willis

Malik Willis is expected to start under center for Green Bay in Week 2 if Jordan Love isn’t cleared, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur revealed on Monday.

Love sprained his MCL during the Packers season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday. No ACL damage was found and Love is expected to miss three to six weeks of action, leading way for the former Tennessee Titans quarterback to make the first start of his tenure with Green Bay.

“If Jordan is not cleared, then we’ll start Malik, and Sean [Clifford] will be the backup,” LaFleur said after practice on Monday.

Jordan Love was not placed on the team’s injured reserve, meaning there could be optimism for an early return.

The Packers will host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET live on FOX.
