Josh Jacobs left a Raiders team with its unsettled quarterback situation to the Packers with Jordan Love, one of the NFL’s rising stars.

He thinks he made a good decision to take his talents to Green Bay. Because unlike what he experienced in Vegas, the Packers offense can be truly explosive.

“I honestly think the sky is the limit in this offense,” Jacobs said this week during an appearance on NFL Network’s The Insiders. “Obviously, with having a special guy in Jordan Love, you know, and having a good offensive line and some good receivers out there makes it a lot easier for me. But just to be able to see the game plan and things that they want me to do this year, the things that they’re allowing me to do, I just think it’s going to be a special year.”

The Packers are hoping Jacobs is correct. The vibe with Green Bay feels a lot like Detroit from this time a year ago. There are indications the Packers are on the verge of something more, especially after they made the second round of the NFC playoffs. Green Bay fielded one of the youngest teams in the NFL and they all grew together in Love’s first year as the full-time starting quarterback.

Packers need good running back to make offense go

Jacobs, who led the league in rushing in 2022, was one of the Packers marquee signings in free agency. Green Bay needs a running back to make the offense its most efficient self. The Packers swapped out Aaron Jones, who signed with the Vikings, for Jacobs. They also kept A.J. Dillon and drafted former USC star MarShawn Lloyd in the third round of April’s draft.

Plus, the Packers did some work with the offensive line. They signed offensive tackle Andre Dillard, who joined the NFL in 2019 as a first-round pick. They then selected Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan with the 25th pick of the first round and added Duke’s Jacob Monk in the fifth.

Last season, it took awhile for the Packers to gel. But they clinched a playoff spot on the final weekend of the NFL regular season. They then shocked the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium before losing to the 49ers, the eventual NFC champs. Love was a star, completing 64.2 percent of his passes for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. The Packers, including the post season, won 10 games in what was supposed to be a transition year in the post-Aaron Rodgers era.
