Josh Reynolds shooting: Denver Broncos release statement on WR's condition
The Denver Broncos released a statement on Thursday, shortly after the news was released that receiver Josh Reynolds was hit with gunfire after leaving a strip club. The statement read: “Josh Reynolds was the victim of a shooting on Friday in Denver and received treatment for minor injuries. Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities,” the tweet read via ESPN Adam’s Schefter.
Reynolds is said to be “OK”, following the shooting, according to Schefter.
More on Broncos WR Josh Reynolds and his injury in the shooting
On the morning of Oct. 18, Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds was injured in a shooting after leaving a strip club, per 9News. According to court documents, Reynolds was shot twice, once in his left arm and once in the back of his head.
Two other men were reportedly injured, as well. One of them was shot in the back and the other suffered injuries from shattered glass. All three men had scrapes from climbing over a fence.
The police initially received a call regarding a shooting in the area around 3 a.m. local time. Then, a second person called in and reported that two of his friends had been shot and that he was being followed. A third person also called claiming they’d been shot at.
“Prior to the shooting, the victims reported they were at Shotgun Willies, a strip clup in Glendale, but left around 2:45 a.m,” 9News’ Janet Oravetz wrote. “They reported, according to court documents, there were no problems in the club.
“When they left, two drivers began following them in vehicles and shots were fired, the court documents say. They reported to police that the suspects continued to follow them as they got onto the highway. Once there, they said the vehicle would no longer drive and they ran from the vehicle.”
On Wednesday, the police announced they’d arrested Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza in the case. Mendoza had allegedly been at the strip club the night of the shooting and followed Reynolds and his two friends out of the club when they left.

However, Charlesworth and Mendoza may not have been alone, as three total cars were seen following the victims. After being arrested, Charlesworth reportedly told investigators he was “helping” a friend who had asked him to follow the victims due to a prior conflict.
Alas, Charlesworth refused to provide further details about the other vehicles. Charlesworth claimed he never shot at Reynolds or the two other men who suffered injuries.
Josh Reynolds is currently on injured reserve due to a broken finger but, as of this report, the Broncos haven’t released a statement on the shooting. Reynolds played in the Broncos’ first five games of the season, recording 12 receptions for 183 yards and a touchdown.
Despite missing the past two weeks, Reynolds is the team’s second-leading receiver, only trailing Courtland Sutton. On Sunday, the Broncos will square off against the Carolina Panthers at 4:25 p.m. ET.
