Josh Williams rips Atlanta Motor Speedway after Lap 2 wreck at Ambetter Health 400

Amid the 16-car pileup on Lap 2 of the Ambetter Health 400, Josh Williams was caught up in his first points-paying Cup Series action. Williams is trying to make his mark in NASCAR but this season with Kaulig has been derailed at every turn.
In two Xfinity Series starts and a Cup Series start, Williams has three DNFs to show for it. That is not how he wanted to begin this season, putting himself in a hole in the Xfinity Series points and squandering a Cup opportunity.
After ending his day early, Josh Williams was livid about how he was raced. After all, it is the Cup Series.
“This is supposed to be Cup racing,” Williams said to the media after. “It’s just insane, I had like five guys pass me while we were still wrecking, it’s like Lap One. So, I don’t know it’s unfortunate. I’ve got some bad luck, I need to figure out how to get rid of it somehow.”
As for his next Cup Series race, he isn’t sure where it will be yet.
“Hopefully it’s not at a track like this. Hopefully, it’s somewhere where talent means something.”
Josh Williams is seen as a talented driver who hasn’t gotten his opportunity yet. His move to Kaulig Racing is supposed to be his big break. So far in 2024, it has just been his car that has broken. Williams will move on to the next one and try to get a finish under his belt.

Josh Williams gets knocked out of another race
The most frustrating thing for a driver in Williams’ position is to get a DNF. To have one just two laps into a race makes it a cruel joke, almost. He was only able to get a brief taste of the Cup Series before being sent to the garage with a damaged car.
Drivers such as Brad Keselowski have praised Williams for his talents. He is a driver who has worked and raced with his own equipment in the past. Now that he’s with a team that has fast cars and championship aspirations in Xfinity, he has been plagued by wrecks.
NASCAR is a fickle mistress. There are times when you can do no wrong and escape the wrecks and mistakes that other drivers make. Then, there are times when there is nothing you can do right and you find yourself with wrecked cars more times than not.
Eventually, the tides of luck will turn for Josh Williams. He has to be ready to make his impact whenever the opportunity arises. All it takes is one good race to change your season, one win and you’re a playoff driver. Will we see Williams ever get his shot?
