Justin Fields declined offer to appear in season 2 of Netflix's Quarterback
Justin Fields may want to be in a reality show. Some day. But the Bears quarterback is passing on Quarterback, the Netflix summer docu-series.
Fields acknowledged that he was approached to be part of season two. But he said he was thinking of his teammates when he said no to the project,
Fields met with the media earlier this week to chat about the opening of Bears training camp. And given the success of the Quarterback debut, a reporter asked his availability, just in case.
“They actually did reach out, and I don’t think I want to do it,” Justin Fields said. “Just because I’d rather keep everything the way it is around here. I think just having cameras around the building, I think that may change the vibe of everyone. I just want to keep it natural, organic and really just focus on what’s going on in the building.
“Maybe down the road, but I don’t think I see myself doing it this year at least.”
The inaugural season of the docuseries focused on Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota. It premiered, July 12. And within a week, the Netflix said yes to season two. Peyton Manning is one of the producers. He provided some updates on what next season could look like.
“Season two has been green-lit by Netflix,” Manning said during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. “We’re excited. We’re hoping [for] more quarterbacks. It’s easier to say yes.”

Obviously, Justin Fields didn’t find it easier to say yes.
During its premiere week, Quarterback ranked as the sixth most popular among English-language TV sjows on the network. The docuseries totaled 3.3 million views last week. Viewers watched more than 21 million hours of it.
Manning acknowledged that two quarterbacks rejected the invitation to appear on season one.
“Look, we are all set to move forward with season two of this series Quarterback,” Manning said in an interview with Netflix. “And we have a lot of quarterbacks that want to do it because now they realize, ‘Hey, if I do this, I’m going to win the Super Bowl and be the MVP of the league.’ Right? Mahomes has shown that.”
Coincidentally, Justin Fields already was part of a docuseries. That was back at Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Ga. He was part of the second year of the Netflix series QB1: Beyond the Lights.
And Fields says he checked out Quarterback this month.
“It was kind of cool seeing everybody’s different backgrounds and seeing how they prepare,” he said. “It’s also cool seeing their personal lives and how they balance life and football,” Fields added on Tuesday. “I think people realize how much works goes into being a quarterback and the mental side of things. Just how much we have to prepare and know everyone’s job… It really just gave everyone our perspective of what we go through.”
