Justin Fields reacts to being listed as QB2 for Steelers despite starting, winning every game
Justin Fields is not worried about where he’s listed on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ depth chart despite being the starter for the first three games of the year. While speaking to reporters on Thursday, the former Ohio State quarterback was asked if he’s bothered by still being listed as the No. 2 quarterback behind Russell Wilson.
“A listing on a computer? Nah, I’m good,” Fields said, per Steelers reporter Amanda Godsey.
Fields doesn’t have much to worry about as he has looked strong in the first three games. He has completed 73.3 percent of his passes for 518 yards, two touchdowns and one interception with a 95.3 passer rating.
With Wilson dealing with a calf injury, Fields has led the Steelers to a 3-0 start, and they are one of five undefeated teams in the NFL. Because of that and Wilson is still not 100 percent, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Fields will start on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
Mike Tomlin comments on Justin Fields’ status with Steelers
“(We’re) still very much in the same place with Russ this week as we were last week, at least at the beginning of the week,” Tomlin said, per Steelers.com. “I just met with him and the athletic trainer talked about what tomorrow looks like. (Wednesday) is a limited participation day from a scheduling perspective. He had a good workout today. We’ll see how he feels in the morning, but I’m not expecting him to be a full participant tomorrow. As we walk in the building tomorrow I want Justin singularly focused on starting for us and doing what’s required to be ready to do that.”

Tomlin also talked about how he’s not surprised by the way Fields is playing. “No question Justin has played well. And that’s exciting for him and for us. But I’m not surprised by that,” Tomlin said.
“I like his steady demeanor. I like that in a leader. He doesn’t ride the emotional roller coaster when things are going good or things are going bad. Guys can rally around that. He’s steady. He’s a competitor. He likes to compete. He doesn’t turn down things. He’s aggressive in play, scrambling and so forth.”
