Kadarius Toney claims Chiefs are lying about his injury status

Kansas City Chiefs receiver Kadarius Toney claimed on his Instagram Live feed Sunday that the team is lying about his injury status.
Toney, who has reportedly been sidelined with a hip injury, went on a vulgar rant explaining that he’s not hurt.
“Man, that s*** cap,” Toney said. “I’m not hurt. None of that s***. Save that s***.”
Toney, 25, has been absent for the last six games going back to the regular season. His 2023 campaign has been mired in disappointment, as the former first-round pick has hauled in 27 receptions for 169 yards and a single score.
The Chiefs ruled out Toney for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens, listing hip/personal as the reason. Toney had his first child Saturday night, which is where the personal part of the designation came from. When it comes to his hip, clearly Toney believes the Chiefs aren’t telling the truth, though nobody from the organization has addressed the claim.

Chiefs looking to advance to Super Bowl without Kadarius Toney
Nonetheless, Kansas City will be without Toney against Baltimore, looking to advance to their fourth Super Bowl in the last six seasons. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, as always, is the key to the Chiefs’ success and continues to march towards breaking postseason records. The 27-24 Divisional Round win over the Buffalo Bills this past Sunday was Mahomes’ 13th playoff victory in his 16th start. He tied Ben Roethlisberger and Brett Favre for the sixth-most postseason wins among any quarterback in NFL history. Mahomes moved past Tom Brady for the most postseason victories by a quarterback before turning 30 in league history.
Sunday represents a big test for Mahomes and Kansas City, as Baltimore owned the league’s No. 1 ranked defense in points allowed per game (16.5) this season. The battled-tested Chiefs won’t be backing down, however.
“At the end of the day, we want to compete. We want to win,” Mahomes said this week. “Don’t care if we have a lot of yards, a lot of touchdowns. We want to win. It’s about everyone’s success. … When you have a bunch of guys that want to win no matter what it takes, and nobody wants the shine, that’s when you have great football teams.”
