The No. 45 truck is in the garage early tonight after Kaden Honeycutt got into Daniel Dye in the final stage at Bristol. This was one of the few issues that has been had during the NASCAR Truck Series.

Layne Riggs is in full control of this race. However, there have been battles throughout the field tonight. Kaden Honeycutt was in the wrong place at the wrong time, got into Daniel Dye as the 43 truck cut a tire.

That led to Honeycutt getting damage to the front of his truck. NASCAR then claimed he was spilling oil on the track, contrary to what Honeycutt’s Niece Motorsports team was pleading.

Stephen Stumpf of Frontstretch took in the radio comms for the 45 team. Despite their protest, Honeycutt had to call it a night.

When you get parked early, it’s no fun. These teams put so much into each week. Honeycutt only has so many starts in the Truck Series this season. So, it’s not surprising that they would be that upset over the radio.

NASCAR took time to put speedy dry on the track. I don’t think officials would have done what they did if there wasn’t good reason to.

After a strong start to the season, four top-10s in his first five starts. In the four starts since Charlotte, Honeycutt has finishes of P33, P14, P12, and P35. He has helped put this Niece Motorsports team up front at times, but the good runs have not happened lately.

Kaden Honeycutt still searching for full-time ride

While he is still 21 years old, Kaden Honeycutt is trying hard to find a full-time ride in NASCAR. He has cut his teeth short track racing in Dirt Late Model ranks, Late Model Stock, ARCA, and the Truck Series.

There are just not enough spots in NASCAR for every deserving driver. In his limited starts, 23, in the Truck Series, Honeycutt has shown talent and a knack for getting the most out of his equipment.

Honeycutt earned top-10s with Roper Racing and Young’s Motorsports in 2023. What he has been able to do with Niece has also been impressive, even if his recent results don’t show it. More starts will likely lead to even more top-10s in the Truck Series.

If I was Niece or Young’s and I had a seat that could be filled by Kaden Honeycutt, I’d take him. If the funding can be put together then he should be racing full-time in the Truck Series. I think he could be a playoff contender and maybe even win a race.
