BYU was taken down to the wire in its game against the Utes. The Cougars trailed 21-10 at halftime but locked in defensively for the second half. They still needed every bit of time to pull off their comeback.

It appeared as if BYU would turn it over on downs after quarterback Jake Retzlaff was sacked, but a defensive holding penalty gave the Cougars four more downs. That allowed them to drive downfield and kick the game-winning field goal.

That allowed BYU to stay in sole possession of first place in the Big 12 as it inched closer to competing for a Big 12 Championship. We’ll see whether the Cougars can keep it up against Kansas this weekend.
