Kansas City Chiefs DL, Alabama alum Isaiah Buggs arrested on domestic violence, burglary charges in Tuscaloosa
Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman and Alabama Crimson Tide alum Isaiah Buggs was arrested in Tuscaloosa, per Tuscaloosa County Jail records. It was first reported by Ryan Phillips of Tuscaloosa Patch.
Isaiah Buggs is being charged with domestic violence in the second degree with a burglary designation. He was booked early Sunday morning.
This comes just weeks after Buggs was accused of animal cruelty in Tuscaloosa. Those charges were related to two dogs allegedly being kept in dirty and cramped conditions without access to food or water. The house where the dogs were found was being rented by Buggs. However, his lease was terminated on April 15th due to Buggs owing $3,000 rent. For that, two misdemeanor warrants were obtained for second-degree cruelty to dogs or cats.
Isaiah Buggs would later surrender to Tuscaloosa police and post bail. At the time, Buggs’ agent, Trey Robinson released a statement saying the accusations are a tactic from police to get Buggs to close a hookah shop he owns in the city.
“Isaiah vehemently denies the truthfulness of the allegations and charges asserted against him today,” the statement reads. “Under no circumstances does Mr. Buggs condone the mistreatment of any animal. The dogs at issue did not belong to him and he was unaware they remained at the property in question. Furthermore, we believe the City of Tuscaloosa’s decision to file charges charges today is part of a concerted effort ….to besmirch Mr. Buggs’ name and reputation as part of an on-going subversive campaign to force the close of his local business, Kings Hookah Lounge.”
