Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt just gave a big update on head coach Andy Reid’s future. While speaking to reporters during Super Bowl LIX Opening Night on Monday, Hunt revealed that Reid will return to coach the team in 2025.
“I know for a fact he’ll be back next season,” Hunt said, per Nate Taylor of The Athletic.
Shortly after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year, Reid signed a contract extension, keeping him under contract through the 2029 season. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Reid became the highest-paid coach in the NFL.
“I’m incredibly grateful to Clark and the entire Hunt family for giving me the opportunity to lead this historic franchise,” Reid said at the time. “Over the last 11 years, Tammy and I have enjoyed calling Kansas City our home. The community has embraced us, we’ve watched our family grow, including having all 12 grandkids during our time here. On the field, there have been so many people that have contributed to our success and Super Bowls, and I’m grateful to the players, coaches and staff that have all invested their time into this process. I’d also like to thank my agent, Bob LaMonte. Chiefs Kingdom is a special place and I’m blessed to have the opportunity to be here.”
How long will Andy Reid coach the Chiefs?
Despite signing the contract extension, there has been speculation about Reid’s future in Kansas City because of his age (66) and winning three Super Bowls with the team. In October, Hunt told ESPN that he could see Reid coaching another five seasons.

“He certainly seems rejuvenated, I would say, by the success of the team in the last few years and having one of the most special quarterbacks of all time,” Hunt said. “I have no sense that he has any interest in retiring any time soon, which is fantastic. But I think any leader needs to be thinking about succession. … Eventually that day will come.”
Andy Reid has been the Chiefs head coach since 2013 and has never had a losing season. In 12 seasons, Reid has led the Chiefs to the playoffs 11 times, won the AFC West nine times and reached the Super Bowl five times.
Before joining the Chiefs, Reid was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999-2012. In his 14 seasons with the Eagles, Reid won the NFC East six times, reached the NFC Championship five times and led the team to one Super Bowl appearance.
