Former Ole Miss standout Jerrion Ealy has been suspended six games by the Kansas City Chiefs for failing the NFL’s performance enhancing substance policy, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The rookie running back is a member of the Chiefs practice squad, and the Chiefs have swiftly filled Ealy’s spot by bringing back veteran WR Marcus Kemp.

Ealy, a former five-star recruit out of the class of 2019, per the On3 Consensus, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four major recruiting media services. Ealy was the No. 26 rated player in the country and No. 3 running back in the class.

He proved his high school ranking true, too, as in each of his three seasons, the Rebels running back was one of their best players on offense.

He finished his Rebels career with 2,235 yards rushing. Additionally, he rushed for 20 touchdowns in his career, but Ealy didn’t just do it on the ground, though — he added 67 receptions for 545 yards and four touchdowns receiving as well before forgoing his senior season for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Despite leaving Oxford after his junior season, Ealy signed to the Chiefs practice squad as an undrafted free agent. Poor combine results, including a 4.52 40-yard-dash time, soured NFL scouts to the former Rebels star despite helping spearhead the Ole Miss rushing attack in 2021.

The rushing attack one year ago was led by Ealy, Snoop ConnerHenry Parrish Jr. and of course, Matt Corral. Ealy, Conner and Parrish accounted for 69.5 percent of yards accumulated on the ground (1,968) one year ago, though Corral’s 614 yards helped the Rebels’ rushing attack tremendously.

Ealy’s suspension will last until Week 11 when Kansas City hosts the reigning Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 27.
