Kansas City Chiefs select Ashton Gillotte in 3rd round of 2025 NFL Draft

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Louisville edge rusher Ashton Gillotte in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Gillotte is now in the NFL after spending the last four seasons at Louisville.
In 2021, Ashton Gillotte began his run at Louisville and tallied 19 tackles, eight tackles for loss and four sacks in 12 games as a reserve. He started 12 games in 2022 and registered 23 tackles, seven tackles for loss and six sacks.
In 2023, Gillotte was named to the All-ACC First Team after posting 45 tackles, a team-high 14.5 tackles for loss and 11 sacks, which ranked seventh in the FBS. Last year, Gillotte was selected to the All-ACC Second Team after posting 43 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
“I just try to play as tenaciously as I can,” Gillotte said. “I try to be around the ball as much as I can, try to harass quarterbacks. Obviously, my hair comes out of the back of the helmet, that’s kind of where the hair and the whole wildman thing come from.”

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Ashton Gillotte
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com gave his analysis of Gillotte for his draft profile. Gillotte was projected to be selected in the third or fourth round, and Zierlein believes he can play in the 3-4 or 4-3 defensive front.
“Productive and experienced, Gillotte shines with his ability to threaten the pocket,” Zierlein wrote. “His rush isn’t overly complicated, but he can collapse the pocket with power, beat up the edge with violent hands and sneak past guards with snap quickness when playing inside. He’s powerful but doesn’t have a solid anchor to hold his ground as a run defender. I’ve graded Gillotte as a 4-3 defensive end, but he has the athletic ability to stand and play 3-4 outside ‘backer.”
