The Kansas City Chiefs will not have a rally for the public if they beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. According to Fox 4 in Kansas City, the celebration will begin with an exclusive gathering at Arrowhead Stadium for players, their families, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas and Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe.

After the gathering at Arrowhead, players would stage near Crown Center. They will then load there for the parade, which has been designed to minimize crowd density. This news comes after a shooting happened last year after the rally where one person died and 22 people were wounded. Two adults and two juveniles were charged in connection with the shooting, with the adults being charged with murder.

“This was a tragic conclusion to a celebration we had all looked forward to – none more than Teresa and me,” then-Missouri Governor Mike Parson said in a statement after the shooting, per KRCG. “The First Lady and I were present when shots broke out. Thanks to the professionalism of our security officers and first responders, Teresa and I and our staff are safe and secure.

How the Chiefs reached the Super Bowl again

“At this time, KCPD is asking everyone to clear the area as they respond to those in need of immediate medical assistance. We commend local first responders and our state Missouri Disaster Medical Assistance Team for their quick actions to stop the threat and treat those in need. State and local law enforcement were prepared, they had a plan, and they ran towards danger when presented, undoubtedly saving lives.”

The Chiefs are looking to be the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. They have won three Super Bowls in the last five seasons and won four Super Bowls overall.

“This team’s been special because it’s been everybody,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said, per ESPN. “If you look at our entire season, it’s like someone makes a big play at the biggest moment to go out there and win a football game, if that’s offense, defense or special teams. The fact that it’s been everybody, it’s not just offense, it’s not just defense, it’s everybody on the entire team, it is something I’ll remember this season by and hopefully we can do it the right way and get this final win.”
