This weekend, NASCAR returns to Rockingham Speedway, and Kasey Kahne returns to NASCAR. That is great for fans. Kahne, one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers, is back behind the wheel this week.

Kasey Kahne has 18 Cup Series wins in his career. His last came in 2017 at the Brickyard 400. When it comes to the Xfinity Series, he has 8 wins. He made his series debut at Rockingham in 2002.

There have been many great performances at Rockingham from Kahne. In 2012, he won the Truck Series race at The Rock. He’s back for more, and he wants to be in the same position – up front with a chance to win.

“I’m doing it to do everything that I can to win the race,” Kahne said to Dustin Albino of NASCAR.com. “That’s not going to be easy by no means; the [drivers] are very good in the Xfinity Series. That will be tough to accomplish, but I want to run all the laps and run as close to the front as I can throughout the entire race. Do everything we can to give it our best effort and be happy when it’s over, that we did everything we could to try and win.”

What about future races? What about suiting up again after this weekend? That all remains to be seen.

“Putting it all into Rockingham right now,” Kahne said. “The situation that I’m in is very good. Really enjoying the whole process.”

Kasey Kahne will race the No. 33 Chevy at Rockingham for Richard Childress Racing. A HendrickCars.com paint scheme on an RCR car? What a world we live in, folks.

Kasey Kahne has been racing dirt

When Kasey Kahne stepped away from NASCAR, it was time. He was having health issues and had started to see his performance fall off overall. So, what has he been doing since leaving stock cars behind?

Well, Kahne has been racing dirt. More specifically, he’s been racing Kyle Larson’s High Limit Racing series. Of course, Kasey Kahne Racing fields a car for Brad Sweet and has won six championships between the World of Outlaws and High Limit. Kahne has been trying to be competitive as a second entry for the organization.

Right now, Kahne is eighth overall in High Limit points. He leads just ahead of Kaleb Montgomery and trails Tanner Holmes. Kahne is only 13 points out of the top five.

Coming to Rockingham, Kasey Kahne is hoping it all comes back to him. He probably has more laps on the track than any other driver in the field. Will that help him on the repaved track?
