Last week, Katherine Legge announced that she will race seven more times in NASCAR this year, including the Mexico Cup Series race. We knew that she was racing for Jordan Anderson Racing in the Xfinity Series, but now we know her Cup Series team.

Joseph Srigley of TobyChristie.com and Racing America was able to confirm that Katherine Legge will race for Live Fast Motorsports at Mexico City. She returns to the No. 78 for Live Fast Motorsports.

Srigley reports that a representative for Legge confirmed she will drive the No. 78 car. She will be sponsored by ELF Cosmetics.

This weekend, Katherine Legge is racing in the Xfinity Series at Rockingham. She is showing a real dedication to figuring out stock car racing and oval racing. Legge will then race in the Xfinity Series at Charlotte.

Earlier this season at Phoenix, Legge made her Cup Series debut. She was the first woman since 2018, when Danica Patrick last raced, to make a start in the series. She ended up P30 overall in a DNF. Her wreck was controversial in that she managed to get into Daniel Suárez, who was P6 at the time.

The wreck and her start caused a flurry of debate over who or what was at fault. Many drivers came out in support of her, including Suárez, to say that NASCAR doesn’t give new drivers enough testing and practice to have a fighting chance. Instead, you get 20-45 minutes depending on the track, and then you’re racing.

The races at Rockingham, Charlotte, and Mexico City will be challenging. With the Xfinity Series returning to Rockingham this year, I think that race could have more than 38 drivers. That would mean cars going home if they can’t post a fast qualifying time.

Even the Charlotte race could be a 40-car entry list. Memorial Day weekend is the weekend of the Coca-Cola 600 in the Cup Series; that’s a popular race.

Then you get to Mexico City in the Cup Series. That race is almost guaranteed to have more than 40 entries, and that means qualifying will be the only way to get into the field. It’s going to be a major race with huge crowds and the reward for making it into the field could be great. But that means there could also be disappointment.

Katherine Legge is back in NASCAR. She will be around for more than a few races. It will be interesting to see how much she can improve this season.
