Katherine Legge may have had an issue with how Chase Elliott raced her at Chicago on Sunday. Steven Taranto of CBS Sports shared a video from Legge’s No. 78 Chevrolet during the final laps of the race. Elliott doored Legge off Turn 5, which led to Legge driving up to Elliott and giving him a shot in the rear.

Despite the incident with Chase Elliott, Legge had a strong performance at the Chicago Street Race, the 44-year-old earned a P19 finish, the best in her three Cup Series races this season. Legge beat out Corey Heim to qualify for the Chicago Street Race.

“I tried my best to mess that qualifying up,” Legge said in an interview with Danielle Trotta on TruTV, per TobyChristie.com. “Honestly, I think it was a lot of pressure to come in with only 20 minutes of practice on a street course where there is no room for error to try and put it into the show.”

Legge also talked about the challenges of qualifying for a NASCAR Cup Series race. “It’s very much drinking from a firehose [in NASCAR] and just trying to find my feet and get better, and the only way you can get better is with laps,” she said. “And we don’t have any practice, so you have to get better in the race, so I have to put it in the show, so it’s like this vicious circle, but I really appreciate everybody’s support, and it means the world to me.”

Katherine Legge has competed in different racing leagues all over the world since 2000. Along with the three NASCAR Cup Series races, Legge has competed in 10 Xfinity Series races, including five this year. Legge has participated in four Indy 500 races and became the first woman to win a major open-wheel race in North America in 2005.

Chase Elliott finished 16th at the Chicago Street Race. He was coming off a win at Atlanta and is closing in on William Byron for the lead in NASCAR Cup points. Elliott is looking to win his second regular-season title, as he first won it in 2022.
