Katherine Legge wrecks while getting lapped, Kasey Kahne involved at Rockingham

As the leaders were lapping the 53 car, Katherine Legge slowed up, and William Sawalich ran into the back of her car. From there, Legge made contact with Kasey Kahne, who tried passing under the incident, and then the NASCAR rookie hit the wall hard.
Katherine Legge didn’t qualify for the Xfinity Series race in the No. 32 car earlier today. She was pushed out for the six provisional spots for owner points. Legge’s team and sponsors worked out a deal. So, she took over the No. 53 Joey Gase Motorsports car from JJ Yeley.
As the leaders were lapping her, Legge slowed up too much in the corner. William Sawalich didn’t have much room to make a move. From there, Kahne got involved and took big damage.
This is the second NASCAR race this season where Katherine Legge has had trouble while being lapped by the leaders. She hopped into this car at the last minute and had to get her seat and pedals put into the car and changed just right for her. I’m not sure what she needs to do to be more comfortable in that situation, simulator time, more races, or what.
Legge was not happy after leaving the care center. It isn’t like she moved up or down the track there like crazy. She slowed down before Sawalich had dipped under her completely and the two collided.
Katherine Legge blames William Sawalich
Nick Sanchez passed her just fine, Sawalich didn’t take the same line – the 53 got wrecked. This is how she explained it:
“I’m fine, just exacerbated,” Legge said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “You know, I think I must have been really bad in a previous life or something because bit unlucky. I mean, there was not much I could do, just got taken out by Sawalich. So, is what it is in that situation.”

Legge believed she gave Sanchez enough room. That is why she appeared to be frustrated when Sawalich hit her.
“I mean, I’d given the inside lane to whoever had just gone past me, and I thought we were going to finish the corner, but he just moved up the race track and just understeered into my left rear. So, not much you can do.”
Katherine Legge felt she was settling into the race before the wreck. Then she was out of the race.
“You know, I was settling in, and actually, we were doing great. I think the car wasn’t the car I was used to driving in practice yesterday. So, it took me 20 laps to get used to it, but we were just hanging with the pack there, and I was thinking, ‘Okay, I’m getting experience.’ And my goal was just to finish, right? Then, when you get taken out and you get hit like that, there’s literally nothing you can do. So, I don’t have a disappear button on my steering wheel.”
Katherine Legge is a driver with a long resume in sports cars and open-wheel racing. She’s the fastest woman to ever race in the Indianapolis 500.
Part of me wants to give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe in another situation, but not this one.
