Kaulig Racing reportedly has 2024 Cup Series plans finalized, AJ Allmendinger likely returns to Xfinity Series
After a victorious weekend in the NASCAR Cup Series, Kaulig Racing has their 2024 plans finalized but hasn’t said what they are… yet. AJ Allmendinger gave them another win in Cup and his third in his career. Allmendinger was incredibly emotional after the race.
He said multiple times after the race that you never know when your last Cup win will be, so you gotta cherish each of them. It didn’t sound like a driver that expected to have many more chances going into next season.
Matt Weaver of Sportsnaut spoke with Matt Kaulig and Chris Rice of Kaulig Racing at the Roval race. Neither said what their plans are, but we now know that there are plans finalized. This was before Allmendinger won the race, by the way.
“We do want to win races and we love AJ,” Kaulig said, via Weaver. “We haven’t all decided — actually we just haven’t announced yet exactly what we’re doing. I think we’re pretty clear on what we’re doing, we just haven’t announced anything.
“I actually defer most of these questions to Chris”
Rice said to “Wait for the announcement.”
As far as Allmendinger, all signs point to an Xfinity Series ride with Kaulig Racing in 2024.
AJ Allmendinger wants to be in the Cup Series with Kaulig Racing
According to the report from Matt Weaver, Allmendinger wants to be in the Cup Series. He wants to be in the top series of the sport where he bleives he belongs. That makes a ton of sense, he worked hard to get to where he is now. He’s even won an oval race in the Xfinity Series.

So, what did AJ have to say?
“I’d preferably like to stay in Cup,” Allmendinger said. “That was always the thought, to try to move the program along but at the end of the day, it’s a business and it’s about trying to find the funding for it.
“At the end of the day, Chris and Matt have always done right by me. They probably tell me more information than I need to know. We have such a good relationship off the race track. It’s about what they want and what’s best for the company. I’ll do whatever is best for them — Cup, Xfinity, full-time, part-time. They’ve always done right by me and I’ll do whatever is right by them.”
There have been a lot of rumors and whispers that Allmendinger is on the way out. At least in that No. 16 Kaulig Racing Cup Series ride. Daniel Hemric is driving the 31, and we should know who his teammate will be in the coming week.
