Keenan Allen injury update: Bears WR's severity revealed

Chicago Bears star wide receiver Keenan Allen went down with an apparent ankle injury in the second half of the team’s Thanksgiving Day game against the Detroit Lions. Luckily, the injury doesn’t appear to be a severe one.
On the following drive, with the Lions in possession, the CBS broadcast shared an update on Allen’s status, announcing he was likely to return.
“We saw Keenan Allen get rolled up on that ankle, needed help to the blue tent,” Tracy Wolfson said. “They looked at him inside. They taped up that ankle. He got out, he did some running, got the thumbs up from the athletic trainers. Looks like he will go back in after that drive.”
At the time that Allen left the game, the Bears were working to try and come from behind to upset the Lions. He had, at the time he went out, he had scored both of Chicago’s first two touchdowns in the comeback attempt.
As soon as Keenan Allen returned to the game, he made his impact felt with a catch on Chicago’s next touchdown drive. However, he would later be tagged with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for tossing a ball at an official when he was frustrated with a non-facemask call.

Prior to the Thanksgiving Day game, Allen had already made his impact felt in the Bears’ wide receiving unit. He entered with 39 receptions on 71 targets for 368 yards and three touchdowns.
This is Keenan Allen’s first season with the Chicago Bears and his first season in his career where he did not play for the Chargers, be it in San Diego or Los Angeles. A former third round NFL Draft pick out of California, he has been named to the Pro Bowl six times.
It’s been a difficult season for Chicago, entering the Thanksgiving Day game with just a 4-7 record. However, the apparently improved play of the offense is something for the Bears to build on going into the end of the season.
