Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is a player that often catches a large share of flack, whether it’s from Dallas’ own fanbase or from across the NFL. Even so, his former offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach still had high praise for the two-time Pro Bowler.

Kellen Moore spoke about Prescott in a conversation with Peter Schrager on ‘The Season’ Podcast. Regardless of what anyone thinks about him as player, Moore says you won’t find a better leader than Prescott and that “he’s certainly a guy you forever root for”.

The best person. I think the best leader I’ve ever been around, easily. And, in all honesty, player or coach or anything,” Moore said. “I think his ability to connect with a team in all spectrums is rare. And I’ve never seen it in any other way. His work ethic, his command. I think he’s incredible.”

We’ve all been through that Dallas journey and he has a phenomenal way of being able to deal with probably more than your average NFL starting quarterback. And he handles it beautifully,” said Moore. “He’s certainly a guy you forever root for.”

Moore spent the last five seasons working with Prescott as a staff member on America’s Team. He started in 2018 as the quarterbacks coach. After that, he got his promotion to offensive coordinator, a position he owned for four seasons before leaving this offseason for the same job with the Los Angeles Chargers.

As for Prescott, his career has been full of mixed returns. He has helped lead the Cowboys to double-digit wins three times while throwing for nearly 25,000 career passing yards and 166 touchdowns. Of his six healthy seasons, he has lead the franchise to four postseason appearances.

From there, though, we reach the criticisms. Of those four postseason appearances, all four have ended with Dallas not reaching the NFC Championship. Many of their issues, postseason or not, have led back to Prescott considering some of his numbers. That includes interceptions as he has thrown 65 for his career including a league-high 15 in 2023.

Still, Moore had no issue whatsoever in going to bat for his former QB1. There may be questions about him as a player but, as a person and leader, he says Prescott is second to none.

Burress says Cowboys won’t win a championship with Dak Prescott

Maybe Plaxico Burress is coming for Dak Prescott because ex-Giants aren’t supposed to love current Cowboys. Or perhaps the old receiver has a point about the Dallas quarterback.

Burress played for three teams in his dozen years in the NFL. But he’s probably most known as a Giant and for coming up big in a Super Bowl. So he knows what it takes to win the most coveted trophy in the NFL. Burress appeared on the The Carton Show earlier this month when the panel began discussing Dak Prescott.

“I believe he’s reached his ceiling as a quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys,” Burress said. “They can win, but they won’t win a championship with him.”
