Kelly Stafford goes off on Los Angeles Rams after Cooper Kupp trade news emerges
Kelly Stafford, the wife of Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford, had a strong reaction to the team looking to trade wide receiver Cooper Kupp. On The Morning After Podcast, Kelly Stafford said she didn’t understand why the Rams would try to trade Kupp when the team was close to reaching the NFC Championship this year.
“My husband wants to win,” Kelly said. “…Trading away a Cooper Kupp? I’m confused because we were one play away from going to the NFC Championship. I have to be the dog in this situation—I want the respect for him that he deserves. I love the city of L.A. With that being said … I love an adventure.”
Earlier this week, Kupp announced the Rams were planning to trade him. “I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships,” Kupp said via X. “I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.
Cooper Kupp has dealt with injuries in the last three seasons
“Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember,” Kupp continued. “I have taken so much pride in playing alongside my teammates for the LA community, so thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us.

“2024 began with one of the best training camps of my career. Preparations start now for 2025. Highly motivated, as healthy as ever, and looking forward to playing elite football for years to come. Love you guys.. But coming for it all.”
In the last three seasons, Kupp has played in 33 regular season games out of a possible 51. He has dealt with multiple injuries during that span, which could be one of the reasons the Rams are looking to trade him.
In 2021, Kupp was the NFL’s best wide receiver catching 145 passes for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns. He won the Offensive Player of the Year, helped the Rams win the Super Bowl and was named Super Bowl MVP. He has two remaining years on his current contract.
