Arizona State Sun Devils head coach Kenny Dillingham has a message for the Arizona Cardinals, and it has to do with his star player Cam Skattebo. After the Sun Devils lost to the Texas Longhorns in the Peach Bowl on Wednesday, Dillingham asked the Cardinals to draft Skattebo in April.

“Now if the Arizona Cardinals can just draft Cam so we can keep him home, that’d be awesome,” Dillingham told reporters.

If the Cardinals selected Skattebo in the 2025 NFL Draft, he would share the backfield with James Conner who has rushed for over 1,000 yards this season. Conner, 29, is a two-time Pro Bowler and is under contract with the Cardinals through the 2026 season.

Where will Cam Skattebo land in the NFL Draft?

Cam Skattebo had a breakout season in 2024, rushing for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns in 13 games for Arizona State. In the Peach Bowl, Skattebo rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns, caught eight passes for 99 yards and threw a touchdown pass.

But where will Skattebo land in the 2025 NFL Draft? In December, ESPN’s Matt Miller and Jordan Reid said they saw Skattebo as a Day 3 pick. “At 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds, he’s a punishing runner, and he has added 35 receptions for 468 yards and two scores,” Miller and Reid wrote. “NFL scouts are excited about his potential as a power back — he’s similar to the Atlanta Falcons’ Tyler Allgeier — and see Skattebo as a mid-Day 3 prospect.”

CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso beleives Skattebo could be selected in the third round. “Cam Skattebo is a stocky, power-packed running back with a stout build and tree-trunk legs, making him a force to bring down,” Trapasso wrote. “His elite contact balance allows him to ricochet off defenders at any level of the field, consistently turning potential short gains into extended runs.

“…Skattebo is a deceptively powerful and bouncy runner capable of creating yards beyond what’s blocked, though his lack of breakaway speed limits his upside as a home-run threat. He’s a consistent, high-effort playmaker who presents a significant challenge for defenses to bring to the ground.”
