Like many NASCAR fans watching the Cup Series race at Kansas, Kenny Wallace was unhappy with how Josh Berry was treated. Involved in a Lap 1 wreck, Berry was parked by NASCAR after his car failed to move under its own power with flat tires.

In the past, flat tires have been excused and NASCAR has towed drivers to pit road for replacements. However, NASCAR has been changing things up lately. Remember Ryan Blaney at Watkins Glen?

The idea is that if you are in a wreck and following that wreck, the car cannot make it to pit road under its own power, you are a DNF. If it is just a single-car slide with four flat tires or a blown right rear that creates those flats, then a tow to the pit box is allowed.

Kenny Wallace was not thrilled with NASCAR’s decision.

“This is wrong,” Wallace said in a video on his social media.

The former Cup Series driver then talked about his gripes with the Next Gen car. He pointed to the underbody and the “turtle shell” style of the car as the culprit.

“So, I don’t like this because NASCAR designed this car,” Wallace continued. “From day one, I said, ‘they gotta fix it, I don’t like this turtle shell.’ But I figured three years later the car would be fixed. Okay, listen, this is a no-go. This is where the Hermanator don’t like this. It’s like what old Sterling Marlin said years ago, ‘A man oughta be able to spin out every once in a while.'”

Kenny Wallace wants NASCAR to make a change

During his short rant that included a little time for a baby squirrel appearance, Kenny Wallace called on NASCAR. He wants to see the sanctioning body make a change.

Rodney Childers was fuming when Berry told him he was parked. Wallace thinks this is the wrong decision from NASCAR as well. He got Logano and Blaney at Watkins Glen mixed up, a similar situation to Berry’s, but his point stands.

“Come on, alright NASCAR I know you’re watching this. It happened to Joey Logano [Ryan Blaney] he’s got, I mean here’s where you’re putting the drivers, you’re telling the drivers they have to be perfect and they cannot … So, I mean you’re telling these drivers they’ve gotta be perfect, that’s really hard to do. You can’t tell the drivers don’t spin out because if your tire’s flat you won’t be able to come back. They got this one wrong. NASCAR got this one wrong.”

Kenny Wallace is a man of the people. He always has something to say and a lot of times, it halfway makes sense. Joking aside, Wallace is right, NASCAR has to change something here.
